Kris Langham Invites You to Explore Your Bible Reading Options for 2024
Hey everybody! Here’s another quick encouragement to start a habit and share a habit in 2024. Just two weeks out!
Now picking the right plan is key, so we want to help. We have several great options that use the same content — but a different approach. Same audio guides, different order.
New Testament in a Year is a favorite: One plan, six days a week, covering every NT chapter.
My favorite: The 19 Journeys is an amazing way to cover the entire Bible in nineteen curated journeys. The first two are 25 days each, so the commitment level is broken down into achievable chunks. From there it’s about 90 days each, and they all flow together. 19 Journeys covers every book in the Bible: Old Testament once, New Testament twice.
Or of course you can choose a book. By New Years we’ll have updated plans in Proverbs, Nahum, Joel, and I just finished recording Esther. That’s coming soon!
See below for a more complete guide to picking the right plan for you or your group. Post a note in the comments to tell us what your New Years plan will be, and you might win a TTW Store gift card!

TTW is a Bible habit that works, with audio guides to help you understand every chapter in just ten minutes a day. Join some of your favorite Bible teachers as they walk through each chapter with clear explanation and compelling application. Engaging, balanced and gracious teaching keeps the Bible text central and equips you to discern and discuss the Bible for yourself. More than a million times every week, listeners, groups and churches around the world trust TTW for their daily Bible habit. You can read those stories here. Start your journey today!
TTW offers several effective paths through Scripture—same content, different order. All options follow TTW’s outstanding Bible Audio Guides through one chapter daily, but the Bible path varies from fully guided to self-directed. Scroll down for details and links.
- New Testament in a Year (NT1Y): Understand every chapter in the New Testament with six daily audio guides per week.
- 19 Journeys (entire Bible): Fully curated Bible path through all 66 books, divided into nineteen epic journeys of several books each.
- Explained (book-by-book): Choose your own path one book at a time with options from Genesis to Revelation.
- Bible Basics, Marriage Talks & Manhood Talks: Take short excursions between journeys with 3 to 7 day topical plans covering basic themes like Faith and Anxiety. Or explore relationships and maturity together in The Marriage Talks and The Manhood Talks.
I have been a member of TTW many years, have gone through the journeys and filled several journals. I love the new feature where we can do group studies together. I always tell people who are searching for a way to study the Scriptures about TTW.

Plan 1: New Testament in a Year
Audio Guides to Every New Testament Chapter
Description:
Join Through the Word for an epic journey through all 27 books and 260 chapters of the New Testament. Every chapter brings new insights and understanding as your favorite teachers explain the text and bring the stories to life. All that in just ten minutes a day! Start a daily Bible habit you can keep, and make this the year that you read and understand the full New Testament.
Expected Outcome:
Understand every book and chapter in the New Testament, and start a healthy Bible habit you can keep! Two essentials make it stick: time and understanding. Bible habits fail when you don’t have time or don’t understand. In ten powerful minutes each day, TTW equips listeners and groups with all they need for a healthy habit. NT1Y lays out the 27 books of the New Testament in an intentional sequence that includes one gospel each quarter, weaving a cohesive narrative that will enrich your Bible experience.

The plan through the New Testament in a Year has made me want to know more our Lord Jesus. I do get my strength for him and so very blessed and thankful. Have told our grown children about the app, and several in our church. Thank you and your staff for making the scriptures clearer and more understanding, in a way that was enjoyable and meaningful at the same time. Truly has opened my eyes and heart more. My husband and I both have grown spiritually.

Plan 2: 19 Journeys
Full Bible Plan in 19 Curated Audio Journeys
Description:
19 Journeys is a daily audio guide to the entire Bible, one chapter at a time. Each journey takes you on an epic adventure through several Bible books, as some of your favorite teachers clearly explain each chapter in under ten minutes. Journey 1 is the ideal Start with 24 days of learning to follow Jesus in Mark and Colossians. Journey 2 backs up for a Big Picture overview of the Bible’s essential stories and themes in 24 key chapters. From there the journeys lengthen to 90 days, each covering several Bible books with a connected theme.
Expected Outcome:
Nineteen Journeys is the cure for lost-in-Leviticus syndrome. It’s a full Bible plan like no other, guiding listeners to understand all 1189 Bible chapters in one cohesive adventure. It’s easy to start, hard to stop, and powerful to finish. Each journey uses the same amazing audio guides from the individual Bible book series, but follows a curated book order—with Bible chronology, themes, and genres all carefully balanced and planned for an effective full-Bible experience (OT once & NT twice). Complete in four years at a chapter-a-day pace, or two years at two-a-day. More importantly, you’ll understand every chapter in the entire Bible!
TTW has been and will continue to be a wonderful to be a great blessing to me. Why? Because studying the Bible is what arms you against the devil’s tatics. I start out my day, every day, with this app. The teachers’ insights and styles keep things fresh. I am now restarting the Journeys for a second time. I just finished Journey 1 and going to Journey 2, and I can’t wait! God bless TTW.

Path 3: Bible Books Explained
Choose Your Path Book-by-Book
Description:
From Genesis to Revelation, TTW audio guides help you understand every chapter in just ten minutes a day. The Bible books series uses the same chapter audio guides from NT1Y and 19 Journeys, but allows you to select one Bible book at a time in the order you choose, and breaks longer books down into shorter sections.
Expected Outcome:
Understand every chapter of each Bible book, following a book order that you choose.
I discovered Through the Word on the YouVersion Revelation plan in my bid to understand the book more, and ever since I have been hooked. The Bible teaching here has encouraged me to also start teaching the Word in my local church. I am now by the grace of God, a Sunday school teacher and youth pastor for my church. I have more to say about the impact of this app but I just bless God for these app that has blessed me so much.

Bonus: Bible Excursions
Explore Topics & Themes with TTW

Bible Basics Explained series uses TTW’s hallmark daily audio guides to explore some of the Bible’s most important themes and our own most pressing questions. Bible Basics provides TTW listeners with quick and compelling excursions from the book-by-book journeys with more in depth discussions of topics important to you. BBE plans are also a great onramp to a healthy Bible habit for new listeners with compelling answers to common Bible questions and felt needs. BBE breaks from our usual chapter-a-day plan to focus on essential topics like Faith, Anxiety, Prayer, and Peace.
The Marriage Talks is the ideal plan for couples or small groups who want to understand what the Bible says about marriage as they grow their relationship together. Each plan covers an essential marriage topic in 5 to 7 audio guides that can be followed daily for individuals and couples or weekly for small group discussion.
The Manhood Talks is a four-week Bible experience for young men and their mentors. What does it mean to be a man? Open the Word together to search out the foundations of our humanity and the calling that God places on every man. Rather than conform to a cookie-cutter image of masculinity, the Bible calls us to transform back into the image of God we were made in. Weekly videos and leaders guides available free at manhoodtalks.com.
I love the marriage devotional and plans because it really keeps me focused on my goals and keeping my relationship with my husband lined up with the Word of God. I just know following God and how He sees marriage means more to me than anything!!! I love learning and continuing to take my commitment seriously, I’m truly blessed to have my husband and I know God wants me to follow through with my vows!

Better Together!
Invite Friends to do any Plan with You
With Through the Word Together you can invite your friends to start any plan with you. Or your family, buddy, kid, cousin. Your whole small group. Or get all your church small groups on it! You can have different groups on different plans, or go solo on one plan and together on another.
Pick any plan, tap “Start Together,” and share the link with anyone. If they’re on TTW, just share the link. If they’re not on TTW, just share the same link. When they accept, you’ll follow that same plan — same audio guides, but now you can share audio messages with your questions and insights — on each and every chapter. So cool!
Now if you’re not ready for a group yet, just take it for a test drive to see how it works. Got questions? We’re here to help!
TTW was shared to me by a friend. We are committed to going through it together. I love we can both go through it at different times but stay on point together.

TTW is Listener-Supported
100% Free Forever
Through the Word runs on a pay-it-forward philosophy. That’s why all our content is free. You can only give to help us reach others. And right now some of our long time donors have set up a matching fund that will match your gifts, dollar-for-dollar, for a limited time. Donating is easy at throughtheword.org/donate.
Every donor now through New Years, will automatically get a $20 voucher to the new TTW Store. The donation match is happening right now, and after you donate, check your email—the one you use for giving—and you’ll get a personal code for the gift voucher within 24 hours of your donation.
Before I found any TTW content I actually started listening to a variety of different plans in the YouVersion app until I came across a TTW plan done by pastor Kris. The other plans that I listened to were great but this plan was just amazingly different. My eyes were opened and I started to do searches for other TTW plans in the YouVersion app. Eventually I just decided to get the TTW app and I’ve been using it ever since. Later down the line I became a donor because I believed that God was working through your ministry and I wanted to show my support. Thank you for all the hard work and sacrifice you guys put in to make amazing content that’s easy to understand for all of us!

19 journeys sounds interesting to me, I feel like it won’t give me pressure but will allow me to read and listen to word in a pace that is comfortable to me.
Thank you ttw team for all you are doing

I love TTW. I love the way you all explain the verses. It helps me to understand. I think TTW is an answered prayer from God. Helping me find wisdom, knowledge, and understanding. I have completed the 19 journeys and many other plans. I have now helped my sister find TTW. We are doing the journeys together. Thank you.

I definitely suffer from the “lost in Leviticus” syndrome! I can’t tell you how many times I’ve started a 1 year Bible reading plan only to peter out within a couple of months! Then the guilt of not finishing hits once again! I have been doing individual books through TTW for a long time and have learned much! When I read the description of 19 Journeys, I thought “I can do this!” Thank you for making it available!
Sheila Sage says
I think I am going to begin 19 Journeys in 2024. My husband has been reading that one for awhile now and is learning so much about the Bible he did not know. He really likes it. I am excited to get started!
Virginia Antonetty says
I plan to continue reading the 19 Journey’s and start reading the book of Esther.
I had planned to read the whole Bible again after 5 completions but fine that doing your plans will get me to the whole Bible with a better understanding of each book. Your explanations of each section of the Bible is awesome and rewarding. Thank you.
Denise Airola says
I am in the last few day of New Testament in a Year. This has been awesome. I’m thinking this year I’ll do the 19 journeys. However, I also want to study Isaiah. I’m going on my first mission trip in 2024 and feel I’m being led to Isaiah. I love TTW. I’ve been studying the Bible through it for many years and I’m so thankful. I’ve learned so much. Thank you for all that you do.
Rhonda Camp says
I’m going to continue with my Journey Through the Word. I’m currently on Journey 11. Thank you for your time and insight. I’ve learned so much. God bless you all.
Tina Blais-Armell says
I’ll try the journeys first. I’m not sure where to start. I’ve tried several times to read the Bible. It was suggested to start with John. I’ve probably read it 3x because I keep starting over. I understand some of it, but not all of it. When I finished it where do you go next. I get very intimidated by the Bible. I’m using a study Bible, but it you’re doing this by yourself, it’s hard to comprehend and I shouldn’t lean on my own understanding. I’m hoping this will help me stay on task, in not very disciplined to stay reading.
Jacqueline Rouse says
I’m planning to do the 19 journeys. Looking forward to more. So amazed I finish & stuck with the new testament plan.
Rebekah E Flitcroft says
I’m going to try the 19 Journeys. I’ve been going book by book but I’m looking for something new for the new year. Thanks TTW for providing such great content and such a user friendly app!
John Brewer says
I plan on doing the 19 journeys audio guide. Hopefully it will help me on my journey in life. I need it.
Venus Childress says
I downloaded the TTW app when You version didn’t have the audio for THE and I’m very glad I did.
I started by going through the book of Daniel, now it finally makes sense to me. I decided to try the Journeys to see where they take me. I’m on Journey 2 now and learning more every day.
Thank you TTW.
Donnie Palme says
I completed TTW’s Genesis Plan this past month. I was blown away by all the connections to Jesus throughout the Book. Very eye opening and really encouraging in my walk God. Thank you for excellent teaching.
Sharon says
I started reading the Journeys and I’m presently mid-way through Journey 8. Reading the Journeys has been in addition to the reading plans on the YouVersion Bible app (where I was introduced to TTW). I really like the chapter a day format and each of the teachers has been terrific. I especially like when 2 or 3 teachers work together on a particular book.
Faye Perkins says
I love TTW , but I’ve been slacking lately on reading for my own benefit. I read to teach my Women’s Group and to write my puppet skits. But they are all focused on a topic. Somehow, I counted that as studying the Bible for my own soul’s food. This year I’m getting back and I’m going to explore the Books that fascinate me. I’m going to use Bible Basics and start with my favorite book Revelations

19 Journey
I’ve been reading TTW for a long time. My husband has been reading it with me for the last year. We choose a book (NT & OT) and read 2 chapters of the OT, and 2 chapters of the NT. We get up every morning at 4 am before the rest of my family (6 grandchildren, 2 grown sons) to spend time with the Lord. We have learned so much from TTW! Thank you and as always may our Lord Jesus Christ richly bless you!
Emily says
I first found TTW a few years ago when my parents told me about one of your plans on the YouVersion app. When I realized you had your own app I downloaded it and started the Journeys. I got through Journey 6, and then took a break to do the NT1Y. My parents were also completing NT1Y on YouVersion, but when you came out with the new option to share a plan and listen together, I invited them both to try out the plan on prayer. I wanted to introduce them to your app, and also to see how the group plans work. They liked it so much they decided to start the Journeys once they finished NT1Y. I’m looking forward to getting back to Journey 7. And I do agree with another commenter, I’d love to have a chronological plan someday!
Oh, and I just thought I’d mention, my all time favorite audio guide is Revelation 10. That one gives me chills every time! 🦁🌩️
KaryAnne Caines says
I love TTW. I have been on 19 journeys for a year now. My daily Bible study is my favorite time of the day! Before, reading the entire Bible seemed overwhelming but having the 19 journeys plan makes it a lot more achievable, and thanks to the audio guides I’m learning so much more than I would have on my own.
Kyle Strong says
I am continuing my Journey 6 as I work my way through the 19 Journeys. This app has been such a blessing and I just got my wife to start using it. She absolutely loves it and has also gotten a ton out of the audio guides. Thank you so much for what you do. It is helping create better Bible habits for us and improving our walk with the LORD daily!
Allen Bryce says
I became a Christian in March 1976, while serving in the Navy on the USS Saratoga, anchored in the bay of Naples, Italy. I have been using your app for the last 5 years or so. I have read the three books Grace that Kris recommended. While reading these books I could see how ungraceful I have been. I guess I got caught up in how special I was for God to speak to me and call me. I spent a lot of years believing people should just listen to me and straighten out their lives.
Anyway reading the Bible using your app and reading those books on Grace I know I have to be show Grace to others and see people through Gods eyes and love people as Jesus loves people. So, through the next year and beyond I want to be filled with the Grace and Love of Jesus towards All people.
Thank you so much for your app
Leisa McKim says
We love TTW! we are 10 days out of finishing NT in a year and are planing our next plan to do! We would love to do the OT next – just wondering if you have any plans to create an OT in a year plan?
Or can you recommend and order to read it for us to work through each book?
Thanks so much!
Merry Christmas 🙌
Karen says
I love Through the Word App and have been reading the Bible for almost 2 years to and almost done with the entire Bible. The lesson and explanation are great for a clear understanding of the Bible. I also use You Version app and I have been listening to the the Bible in chronological order which I enjoy but which I had the explanation from Through the word with it. Thank you and the entire staff for what you are doing. My sisters, mom and I all share plans with each other. Some days we don’t comment and other days we bounce ideas or thoughts off each other.
Ozma says
I’m doing the 19 journeys starting in January. I am very new to the Bible. I was brought up Jewish and I know the Old Testament but the word of Christ is very new to me. I’ve been listening to Through the Word for about a month now and it has been incredibly helpful all the little plans, so I cannot wait to do through the word journeys, especially since I am autistic and have mental health issues and learning disabilities and listening is much better than reading, most times anyways. But I can’t wait! Thank you TTW for being so helpful and understanding!
Dick Travis says
Love the app and like the ideas you’re offering for next year. Just finishing NT in Year and look forward to exploring new option. The lesser prophets are a favorite and am planning to add those to my devotion time.
Thanks and God bless.
Karen Herman says
TTW has been a part of my mornings for quite awhile. I’m about 30% through Journey 4 and will continue working my way through all 19 journies!
My women’s Bible study is working on the Gospel of John and so I am listening to that as well!
Thank you for doing what you do —
God bless
Hanifah Mwashigadi says
I have been struggling to be consistent in my bible reading many thanks to this app I can’t wait to tale up the New Testament in a Year to start with the I will go to the 19 journey. Many blessings to the hard work put in.
Melissa Lambert says
I am so grateful for TTW! I have learned so much through this plan. I have gone through almost all of the books now, but I plan to do something different in 2024. I plan to go through my Bible Plan and study each chapter listed for that day. I know this will take time, because some of your speakers are long winded, but it will be worth it. I love to study God’s word and I am grateful for this app because it has helped me do this. Studying Gods word is important to me, especially after I was diagnosed with a Stage III brain tumor. Through every surgery or radiation regiment TTW has gotten me through and built my faith. I even wrote a lesson for Celebrate Recovery based on Dueteronomy chapter 3 in TTW. The lesson is called Facing Giants. I look forward to continuing TTW as I head into the 2024 year.
Staci Deck says
I’m so thankful for what y’all do. I have LOVED my time in Through The Word and I have learned so much. I am so excited to begin the 19 Journey plan. It’s a little intimidating but you make it so manageable so I’m ready to dive in!
Caron Pescatore says
I am finishing the New Testament in a Year. I can’t believe a year has already flown by! Anyway, I’m looking for a plan or book to start with my teens (13 and 16). I’m trying to find a way to share my love of the Bible without overwhelming them. You know how teens are. I’d appreciate any suggestions.
