What is TTW app? What’s a Bible audio Guide?
Through the Word is a concise audio guide to the entire Bible, one chapter at a time. It’s also an app that will equip you to read the Bible, understand it, apply it, and make it a habit. All that in just minutes a day.
What do you believe?
If you are going to let us guide you through the Bible, you probably want to know just what we believe about it. To put it very briefly, we believe what the Bible says about itself:
“All Scripture is breathed out by God, and is profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness” (2nd Timothy 3:16).
In other words, we believe that the Bible is God’s own word, that it is true, and that it is powerful. All of our doctrinal beliefs start there – in the Bible itself.
Below you will find a short summary of our beliefs on some key doctrines of the Christian faith. But don’t take our word for it – read God’s Word for yourself! That’s what TTW is all about. We teach and explain the Word, but we want you to check it out on your own. That being said, here is our brief Statement of Faith:
Who’s behind this crazy idea?
TTW is run by a faithful team of missionaries and Bible teachers with a passion to reach the world through the Word. Kris Langham is TTW’s founder and lead teacher. Our board of directors includes pastors, missionaries, and businessmen. But really, God is behind this, and He wants you to grow closer to Him through his Word. We are just here to provide a simple system where you can have a powerful daily walk with the Lord.
What does listener supported mean?
TTW is a free app, with no ads and no fees. And we intend to keep it free, with no strings (and no giving guilt trips) attached. Our mission is funded entirely by listeners who believe in our mission and give cheerfully. TTW is a registered non-profit charity in the USA, and all donations are tax-deductible. If you’d like to donate, visit throughtheword.org/giving for more info.
What’s the difference between Journeys and Books?
TTW wants to help you set a clear plan to read through the Bible. We call our reading plans guides because each one guides you chapter-by-chapter through part of the Bible. Our guides come in three varieties: Journeys, Books, and Topics & Extras, and you can find all of them from the home page by tapping “Browse” in the lower left.
- 18 Journeys: Each journey takes on several complete Bible books in about 90 days. Our pastors carefully set out the books of the Bible to follow themes, balance Old and New Testaments, follow OT chronology, and guide you on a clear path.
- 66 Books: For those wanting to choose their own path, you can sign up for one book at a time. You’ll get the same audio from the journeys, but more control on the order. Note that completing a book guide will not mark it complete in the journey.
- Topics & Extras: (more coming soon) We’re adding more topical guides soon, so watch for those!
Guide Selection FAQ
Where do I start? The app starts you off with “TTW Intro” already set up, so start there and decide your next step after that. The 25-day Starter Journey gives you a grand tour of the Bible’s core themes and stories in 25 key chapters. But you can change or add plans anytime. We will be adding “suggested plans” soon!
Where do I find them? From your home page, just tap “Browse” in the bottom left. Then select Journey, Book, or Topics & Extras to see what’s available… You can even tap “New & Updated” for our freshest content.
Can I follow more than one? Yes! You can subscribe to one each for: morning and evening, family Bible time, small group, disciple a friend, etc. It’s all up to you.
Can I read the Bible and listen to audio guides without a plan? Yes! You can find every Bible chapter and every audio guide anytime. Just tap Browse on the home page, then tap any plan you are seeking. Audio guides are available for every chapter. However, a chapter will not be marked complete without subscribing to a guide.
Why create an account?
TTW allows you to register an account with us. It’s free, and it only takes a few seconds. We wouldn’t do this but it’s the only way to track and save your progress. With your account, you’ll be able to access your progress from any device, and (coming soon) even from the website. Also, no one will ever get your details or information… period… no small print… period! We might send you a few valuable emails a year, but you can always unsubscribe from those if you wish.
TTW 2.0 Users: Your existing account will work for TTW 3.0. Just log into the new app and the migration will move everything over!
What if something doesn’t work? How to report a problem.
We don’t want anything to get in the way of your Bible habit and time in the Word. If you ever have a problem we are here to help! Please just let us know and we will make sure we get back to you as soon as we can.

Where are the CSB, ESV, KJV, etc?
More translations are coming back! In order to get the new app update completed, we had to simplify a few things, including some confusion with Bible translation APIs. For the moment, we just have the NIV. The good news is that we will be bringing the other Bible translations back on the app soon!
Can I still use the old TTW 2.0 version?
Yes - it's still available to you on our web app at app.throughtheword.org. However, once you've logged in to 3.0, any progress that you make on 2.0 will not follow you to 3.0. It will look just like the old app, only in a web browser (on your mobile device or computer). Log in to your account and all of your journals and progress will still be there. We will keep it available to you as long as it keeps working, but we are not able to invest in upgrading or fixing bugs on the old app while also maintaining the new one.
